State League 2025 Format & Rules
Dates:
Sunday 23rd March – 10th May
6 rounds + Final
Bye – 20th April
Grand Final – Sat 10th May
Rounds 1-6 will be played on a Sunday (Grand Final on Saturday) with two fixtures for the number 1-4 players, either: 10am-12pm or 1:30-3:30pm.
The 5&6 match will be played at 12-1:30pm for all 6 rounds.
TEAM PLAYING ORDER (TPO)
Padel West will decide each team’s TPO for Round 1.
Team’s can adjust their TPO before rounds 2 and 3. Adjustments must be made before Friday 5pm of those rounds and at least 2 of the other 3 teams must agree.
If at least two of the other teams disagree with the order, a discussion will be had and the 3 other teams will come to an agreement on what the order should be.
The TPO cannot be adjusted for round 4-6 and the final.
The 4 highest available players on the TPO must play in the 1-4 matches and cannot play in the 5&6 match.
A player who played or will play in the 5&6 match can only sub into the 4th set of the 1-4 matches if 4 players above them on the TPO, play in the 1&2, 3&4 matches.
New players (outside those drafted) can be recruited onto a team but must be placed at number 3 or lower on the TPO and that must be agreed by at least two other teams.
New players must be added to the team’s TPO by Friday 5pm the week of the fixture. If not, the team will lose all the sets the new player plays.
When a new player is recruited to a team they must play the same week they were recruited otherwise that player can no longer play for that team and can be recruited by other teams in the following weeks. Unless they have proof of injury or an exceptional circumstance.
FORMAT
The number 1&2 players will play three sets against the opponent’s 1&2 players and the 3&4 will play three sets against the opponent’s 3&4. If one pair is up 2-0 a 3rd set will still be played.
Then the 1&3 and 2&4 will play one set against their opponents.
So players 1-4 will play 4 sets total.
The number 5&6 will play 3 sets against the other team’s 5&6. If one pair is up 2-0 a 3rd set will still be played.
All sets won will count towards the teams total. With 11 sets played in each fixture.
Each set won will be worth one ladder point.
The winning team will receive 6 extra ladder points.
Each fixture will run as follows:
Fixture #1
10am-12pm
Court 1: 1&2 vs 1&2 (3 sets)
Court 2: 3&4 vs 3&4 (3 sets)
Court 1: 1&3 vs 1&3 (1 set)
Court 2: 2&4 vs 2&4 (1 set)
12-1:30pm
Court 1: 5&6 vs 5&6 (3 sets)
Fixture #2
12-1:30pm
Court 2: 5&6 vs 5&6 (3 sets)
1:30pm-3:30pm
Court 1: 1&2 vs 1&2 (3 sets)
Court 2: 3&4 vs 3&4 (3 sets)
Court 1: 1&3 vs 1&3 (1 set)
Court 2: 2&4 vs 2&4 (1 set)
RULES
Gentleman’s Deuce (One long, one short)
7 point tiebreak at 6 games all.
Outside play allowed both courts.
Pairs can swap sides (left and right) after each set.
Players must play at least one set in two separate fixtures to be eligible for the final.
No Shows
Anyone over 15 mins late for the commencement of a match will be forfeited from that match.
If 6 players don’t show up and play in the correct order during a fixture, the 5&6 match will automatically be forfeited.
If a 1-4 player is a no show/can’t make it and the 1-4 matches are on 1st, for the 5&6 match not to be forfeit, the next highest available player must play at least the 4th set of the 1-4 matches and two players lower than them on the TPO must play the 5&6 match.
If a 1-4 player is a no show/can’t make it and the 1-4 matches are on 2nd, the next highest available player can play the 1-4 matches but the 5&6 match will be forfeited.
Substitutions
A team can substitute a player into the team that is on their TPO before the 4th set of the 1-4 matches but that player must be lower than the other 4 players on the TPO.
Only one substitution is allowed per fixture.
No substitutions are allowed in the middle of the 1&2, 3&4 or 5&6 matches.
The player subbing in will directly replace the player subbing out, so the line up won’t shift.
For example, if the number 1 subs out, the player subbing in will take their spot at number 1 in the lineup.
Ladder Tiebreak
If we have two teams on equal ladder points, the team that goes above will be decided by the following order:
- Head to head between the teams.
- Most sets won head to head
- Games won/lost percentage
- Team that won the most recent fixture between those two teams.
Inclement Weather/Fixture Cancellation
If weather delays play or court is slippery, the Padel West team will deem whether the court is playable or not.
If we deem the courts aren’t playable, we will wait no more than 60 mins for the courts to be playable.
If courts still aren’t playable after this time the fixture will be cancelled. Sets played will be counted and the remaining sets to be played will be split between the teams.
If one team hasn’t reached 6 sets, the 6 bonus points for a win will be split between the teams.
If play commences after a delay and weather delays play again, we will wait again for no more than 60 mins for courts to be playable.
If there is a 3rd delay, play will be cancelled.
